They are among the first to bloom in spring, bringing a much needed punch of colour to an otherwise dormant garden.
Step 1
Choose the right time to plant. Spring flowering bulbs should be planted in the fall before the ground freezes. They generally require exposure to the winter cold to bloom in spring.
Step 2
Decide where you want to plant your bulbs. Remember that they can get all the light they need before trees leaf out in spring, so you don’t have to worry about planting them in shady areas. For a natural look try poking a few crocus’ bulbs into your lawn. They will be up, blooming and finished before your lawn will need a mow.
Step 3
Dig a hole three times deeper than the size of the bulb. Before placing the bulbs in, be sure to put some Green Earth® Bone Meal or Holland® Bulb Booster into the hole or trench and work in. It will ensure they root in well, and will give you a beautiful and colourful display in the spring. Cover the bulbs with soil and give them a good watering right away.
